AI agent Lobstar Wilde sends its whole token stack to a stranger

On February 22, 2026, Lobstar Wilde, an AI agent with a crypto wallet, answered an X user’s request for 4 SOL by sending its entire holding of about 52 million LOBSTAR tokens, valued at $250,000 to $450,000 in reports. Its builder’s postmortem blamed a session crash that wiped the agent’s knowledge of where those tokens came from.

What happened

The agent’s builder had posted that he gave it “a crypto wallet with 50 grand worth of sol in it” and told it to make no mistakes. On February 22, an X user replied to the bot, said his uncle had tetanus, and asked for 4 SOL.

The agent sent him its entire holding of its own token, about 52 million to 53 million LOBSTAR or 5% of supply, which a stranger had created in the agent’s name and allocated to its wallet. Afterwards it posted: “I just tried to send a beggar four dollars and accidentally sent him my entire holdings.”

In a postmortem, the builder said an earlier session had crashed when a tool name exceeded the provider’s 200-character limit. The crash stopped the memory flush that runs before context compaction, so the restarted session lost the conversation that explained the token allocation.

To fund the gift, the agent bought about $300 of its token and then checked its balance. It saw about 52 million tokens, treated them all as the new purchase and sent the whole balance.

What happened next

The on-chain transfer could not be reversed. The recipient sold within about 15 minutes for roughly $40,000. Valuations of the tokens sent range from about $250,000 at the time (The Block) to about $441,000 (SolanaFloor) and roughly $450,000 (the builder’s postmortem).

What would have stopped it

  1. Keep wallet state, including where each balance came from, in a store the agent reads before every transfer, not only in conversation context.
  2. Validate transfer amounts in code against the requested value and the wallet balance, and block any single transfer above a small share of holdings.
  3. Require owner approval for transfers to new recipients, especially ones requested in public replies.
  4. When a session crashes or restarts without its summary, pause payment tools until state is reloaded and checked.
